AUSTRALIAN FROGS               26   

Species of burrowing frog found through a large section of ne Australia, from northern NSW east and north Queensland and into eastern NT.  Lives in woodlands, grassy and cleared areas, only seen around temporary ponds  and water-filled playpens. Active day and night; does go into a torpor when resources are scare.

Formerly classified as Opisthodon ornatus. ground frog native to Australia; found from western Sydney to Cape York (Q) on either side of the Dividing Range and across to WA. Found in wet sclerophyll forest in coastal areas and woodlands in more arid regions. usually only seen after heavy rain.
