Usually known as Wood Frog, Australian Bullfrog and Arnham Rana. Found in New Guinea, northern Australia and some islands; in Australia restricted to rainforests of northern Queensland and the eastern border of Arnham Land, NT. Member of the "true frog" family Ranidae, the only ranid frog found in Australia. Semi-aquatic; occurs rainforests, seasonally dry monsoon forests, and tropical woodlands, usually associated with permanent water

AUSTRALIAN FROGS                 21

Also known as Giant Bullfrog, Giant Pobblebonk, Great Bullfrog, Inland Banjo Frog. Found in the Murray Basin in new and northern Victoria. Spends most of its life concealed underground only emerging after rains to feed and spawn. Inhabits open and disturbed areas and woodlands, often in dry forest but associated with floodplains.
