Also known as Red-crowned Broodfrog. Confined to areas of Hawkesbury sandstone within a 160 km radius of Sydney. Nocturnal. Lives in areas of seepage around the base of sandstone and large rocks.

Occupies wide range of habitat, including artificial and natural watercourses such as dams, swamps, ephemeral pools, areas beside creeks, and streams, and roadside ditches. feeds on invertebrates.
